Second entrancing collaboration for the Lunz duo.
The best of the trilogy of albums by Story and Roedelius, Inlandish was hailed Album of the Week by the Sunday Times and as well as garnering plaudits from newspapers, TV and radio stations around the world. As with 2004's Lunz Tim Story shadies Roedelius's limpid neo-classical piano meditations with cello, oboe and shavings of electronica to achingly beautiful effect. "Like a cross between Debussy, Bill Evans and Philip Glass with three-quarters of the notes taken out" quipped Mojo while hailing the power of it's less-is-more ethos. Or, as the BBC puts it: "These are tunes that wiggle and shimmer into the ears, gently refusing to melt into background noise." I've often used this album as an 'introduction to Roedelius' for family, friends or colleagues wary of dipping their toe into minimalist music, and it's been a pretty effective way of pricking interest in a musician they've invariably never heard of.
